Selma's College Prep
Hello! My name is Selma-Louise Asantewa Apara, and I’m a senior at Bishop O’Dowd High School. This fall, just like many seniors across the nation, I am applying to colleges in hopes to continue my education after high school. It’s my dream to attend Howard University in Washington DC, and study Computer Science with a minor in Theater. I have worked really hard since elementary school and currently have a GPA of 4.38
Unfortunately, in May of this year, my father passed away due to Brain Cancer. Without my dad, it has become really hard on my mom financially. It has really become a struggle to cover the expenses of the college application process such as SAT prep, application fees, etc. Throughout my life, I have faced many obstacles and the hardships that come with transitioning from a little Black girl into a young woman. I never have allowed any of these obstacles to stop me from doing my best in school, and all aspects of life. I am very humble, friendly, and have great social and leadership skills. I’ve participated in multiple extracurriculars such as Black Student Union, Student Council, Cheerleading, and many school musicals.

- Spirit of the Dragon Award For Sophomore Female Student: 2020

- Cheerleader Captain 2020-2021
- Cheerleader Game Day Captain 2021-2022
- President of the Keystone Club, Boys and Girls Club
