Our beloved friend and dedicated nurse, Miriam Meier, has been in a fight for her life and family since April of this year. Miriam has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a brutal, incurable malignant form of brain tumor. She has since been undergoing palliative chemotherapy and daily radiation and is now unable to work.
Miriam is a much valued and loyal member of the HCA Kingwood Medical Center family, whose last position was Director of Case Management. Miriam has been, and still is, a much appreciated mentor to me and others, as well as a friend. She has met this assault on her life and family with her typical optimistic attitude, patience and grace. These words cannot fully describe how deeply we are all affected by this; a punch to the stomach would be close.
Miriam is spending as much time as possible with her husband Bill and children; Megan, Mary Beth, Thomas, Madeline and Adelaide, ages 16-24. The funds we are asking for are to help offset the extensive medical costs and living expenses associated with such a life threatening disease. Many of the costs associated with treatments and care are draining for this loving family. Your donations will go to a wonderful woman, mother and friend.
