John's Journey

Hi,

My name is Alison Perry-Davies, and I am fundraising for my brother John and his family. They are facing the battle of their lives; in John's case, it will be his final battle.

Where to start, Brain Tumours and other things you didn't plan for...

A few months back, John had a seizure out of nowhere and a few weeks later, he woke up with aphasia ( he could not speak properly)

Very quickly, they found out that a nightmare they could not have imagined was happening; our brother John was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive and terminal brain tumour (Glioblastoma)

John had been off work with a back injury just before this happened and they are now in financial crisis. They have drained their savings and investments and have come to a place of desperation. Candace is working overtime to keep things afloat while caring for her dying husband.

Life wasn't always like this for them...

John and Candace fell in love, had two sons, raised them well, and enjoyed a beautiful life. John works in sales, but has been off work due to a back injury for almost a year, and Candace works as an EMT.

Their son Danny earned a scholarship to the University of Saskatchewan and is studying education and looking forward to becoming a teacher. Right now, he is number 87, wide receiver for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and looks forward to a possible career in the CFL. Jakob works in ambulance transport and is pursuing his passion of becoming a dive instructor. John also has a son Matthew who is happily married, works in construction and has a beautiful 6 year old daughter, John's granddaughter.

John has a strong faith and stays positive through surgeries, chemo, and radiation. These measures are to buy him time; they will not save him. In the midst of all this, finances have become a considerable concern, and Candace is becoming exhausted from working long hours of overtime and worrying about her husband and boys.

It is so hard to know how to share or what to share. The reality is that this is what is happening and where they are at. Please help if you can and I ask that you would please share this far and wide and others will help out as well.

Anything we can to relieve some of the pressure of this sweet family would be so appreciated.
