Bob's recovery
Donation protected
While working in his shop, a spark came off Bob's grinder, igniting his shirt. Unfortunately, the majority of flames were on the back on his right side, and due to his stroke he didn't feel it until he was engulfed. He kept amazingly calm (was home alone), and able to rip off three layers of burning clothing with his then one good hand. He sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his entire right torso and arm as well as his left hand and forarm.
The 911 man as well as the paramedics were so great and calm, getting him transported to our hospital in Bend where the ER team so expertly stabilized him, and got him air lifted to Emanuel Burn Center in Portland.
We have a long, painful journey ahead of us, but the support and love we've received from friends and family will get us through, along with Bob's incredible determination and the awesome team here at the Burn Center...it all gives us comfort.
