Hello, my name is Dawn Payne. My husband Wesley Payne and I are in need of some help. My husband is an over the road driver for Leavitts freight and I am a stay at home mom, not by choice. You see, we have a son that was recently diagnosed with cylindrical bronchiectasis in the 3rd stage. This came about by multiple infections in his lungs due to primary ciliary dyskinesia also known as PCD. He was born with dextracardio Situs Inversis Totalis, Polysplenia, and PCD. Over the course of 12 years he’s had bacterial pneumonia 37 times. The diagnosis of Bronchiectasis came as a shock along with the treatment to keep him with us. He spent a week in the hospital having tests, IV antibiotics and steroids, and a procedure in which they had to actually flush his lungs to clear the infection he had for 3 weeks.

At this point his left lung is pretty much useless as the bronchiectasis has filled it and his right lung is affected but still working. He only has 40-50% lung function left and this will not get better. He is such a bright child and is having a hard time knowing with each infection his function depletes. He has to use a smart vest clearing system to help move mucus to keep bacteria from forming. They did give us a break on it but the system is normally $10,000. Insurance does not pay for this so I have included that in his medical costs.

The medical bills are more then we can handle at this point and we are praying we may be able to get some help from your foundation. As of this point the medical bills are $14,000 or there about. We have been praying for a way to be able to make all these bills and with only one income it makes it hard to do. Medical costs will also continue to rise, we can try to plan ahead but this hit us out of nowhere.
