Paying tribute to union carpenter Ana Vetter

Donation protected
My name is Brady Devens I’m an operator out of local 302 and working on the Spokane tribal casino in Spokane Washington. On 3-7-23 we had a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 27 year old Ana Vetter. my goal is to spread awareness and support her husband and family by raising money to help with bills and funeral expenses and whatever els her family might need. I have prayed and prayed and these are the words I have to share.

Ana vetter

Ana Vetter is not just the name of a loved one that was lost. Ana Vetter is forever a reminder of how precious life is.

Being raised on a union paycheck, we were constantly reminded of the hard work and dedication that was required when dad went to work. My brother, myself, and then my sister all took our first steps into the union trades where we were then reminded first hand of the choice we were making.
There is nothing like that first time feeling as an apprentice walking onto a job, as you’re looking around and trying to process the magnitude of everything going on around you; But the time goes on and you become comfortable. You’re reminded In safety meetings about the dangers and safety hazards. You always tie-off in a Fall Hazard, look up when you hear “Over Head” or the sounds of a whistle, never put yourself in a Pinch Point, ext. The true reality is, you can’t ever be prepared for death to grab you, or the ones your working with.

Ana was not just a carpenter on the job but she was apart of the CORE crew. For me personally the only women I have met that worked on a core crew. These guys in my eyes are the Alfa the runners, the no bull shit let’s get the job done guys of the job! You don’t get in their way. They work with big heavy panels, they are climbing up and down walls and packing heavy gear. You don’t make it on that crew unless you made a name for yourself and are willing to work your ass off. Ana proved herself and she took so much pride in being on that crew and working with those guys. This project is in the upper hills of Spokane we have endured -20 degree weather with 50 mile an hour winds and ice and snow, it’s been the most physically and mentally demanding project I have been apart of and through it all since her first day she has been by my side we have helped eachother up after slipping on the ice and falling down, encouraged eachother when we felt like giving up, she had given me her face mask when she noticed ice cycles on my beard, I can go on but For anyone that took the time to get to know her we all had our own special bond with her. The day before, Ana and I spent our lunch break diving through rock piles looking for opal because we both had a passion and love for rock hounding.
She had a smile on her face, and conversation going around, and mid sentence she was taken away from us in the matter of seconds. Coming from the west side where high rise buildings are the common structure your bound to see lots of horrible things happen on jobs we some times think it’s just the nature of the job and we pay our respect or say oh man I’m glad it wasn’t me or hey you should of been more careful. But that wasn’t the case for Ana. The ground beneath her feet opened like a trap door and she was gone as all we could do you watch in disbelief.

In that moment her light had fallen into the darkness, her hands reaching for anything to grab. But the darkness of death is no match for Ana, for her flesh is cold now but the Holy Spirit that was in her heart has risen Ana to a place I am jealous of.

Ana I love you, and I miss you. You have forever changed my life, and so many others.
I will always be reminded of your presence and to have to radio in the words “ easy down for disconnect “ will never be the same for me.. but a reminder.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18
