Paying Tribute to Raymundo Reyna III

Raymundo Reyna III was a gentle and wonderful man. His smile and good-natured humor could turn anyone’s bad day into a good day. He was born in Laredo, Texas, on February 17, 1979. He was the first child of Raymundo and Laura Reyna (my aunt and uncle) and the first grandchild born into our family. However, he wasn’t alone for very long.

In August of 1979, Patricia (his cousin) came along, and they became inseparable. As little kids, their family describes them as the “funny one and the trouble maker.” Aunt Laura said, “ wherever there was trouble, Patty started it, and Raymundo was right by her side.” They both went to school together until second grade. They graduated high school the same year, had children close in age, shared every accomplishment and milestone together.

In 2006, Raymundo married Perla Lozano-Reyna, the love of his life. Later that same year, they welcomed their daughter Nathaly. He was a devoted husband and father. He worked hard to give them the life they deserved. He shared his love of baseball with Nathaly. He attended all of her games, every practice; there wasn’t a moment he missed.

In mid-July, Raymundo was diagnosed with the Delta variant of COVID-19. He struggled to overcome the disease, but on August 27th, 2021, he finally succumbed. With his passing, he leaves behind Perla and Nathaly and numerous relatives.

Raymundo was in the hospital for quite a while. He was unable to work before and during his hospitalization. With his passing, Perla and Nathaly have also lost their primary provider. The family's desire for Perla and Nathaly is not to be encumbered by any financial burdens, including medical bills.
