Articulate Austin
We are a small team of driven dancers who see a need to challenge ourselves and our peers to create dance that reflects an intelligent, thoughtful, and fearless approach to choreography.

We need your help in providing resources, and increasing opportunities and visibility for dance in Austin, TX.

The great news is, we're mostly there! Through generous sponsorships, we have been able to cover pay for our artists and ample rehearsal space and time for development. Through public showings of work-in-progress, we have been able to create space for critical feedback, crucial for the growth of their work. 40959752_1564680405558468_r.jpeg
Now we need your help to bring the final production to the stage.

Articulate Austin , founded in 2017, is a program that supports two contemporary choreographers to create new work and works to engage the community in the process of dance creation.

This year, we have selected two choreographers,Kari Schackmann and Rebecca McLindon Blanchard , along with three dancers, Jackie Courchene, Liliana Zapatero, and Natasha Small,  to develop new contemporary dance works over a period of six months, with several free feedback showings along the way.

Our artists work extremely hard over the length of this process, and their pay is a priority. We are so grateful that their pay is funded by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. Their rehearsal space has been provided through generous sponsorship by Round Rock Repertory Dance Centre  andBalance Dance Studios. `40959752_1564695056455314_r.jpeg
By supporting our program you are:

1. Covering vital production costs
2. Supporting a program that pays artists to create work (very rare and valuable in Austin)
3. Supporting a program that seeks to make contemporary dance more open, more accessible, and more visible within the Austin community
4. Supporting ongoing cultivation and development of emerging choreographers in Austin

We host collaborative and educational workshops, free community showings, and professional development classes taught by our choreographers.

Articulate Austin provides artists the support and resources they need by connecting them with professional opportunities to keep the artistic community thriving, and by donating today, you help make all of this possible.
