The mission of the NKFM is to prevent kidney disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it.
Because 70% of kidney disease can be prevented, NKFM must also focus on the root causes of kidney disease which are obesity, diabetes and hypertension to help people avoid this disease altogether. So while it's true that the NKFM are fighting kidney disease, this fight is not a single disease fight. Hence, they have a broad array of programs which are focused on addressing obesity, diabetes, and hypertension to get at the "root" of the problem.
Over the last 60+ years of serving the people of Michigan, the NKFM have seen the power of prevention and it's their top priority.
