To pay for my final-year of medical school.

Hello, my name is Aisha, and thank you for reading the following few paragraphs. I am currently a final-year medical student at in Australia; I previously completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne. I started my degree while still back home in Zimbabwe, in 2021. I was also the year my father passed away due to complications from COVID. Despite this immense tragedy, and with support from family, I decided to continue my studies. With financial support from my mother and working part-time as tutor throughout my degree, I have been able to afford my tuition fees.

I have few more months of medical school left. I plan to specialise in rural generalism. I am interested in paediatrics and women's health given the need for those I have experienced in my first year of placement. I'm unsure of long terms plans but I would love to serve in rural or remote communities in Australia or somewhere in Southern African community.

However, the political and economic situation in Zimbabwe is unstable, especially since the recent election. It has significantly affected my mother’s ability to supplement my tuition. I have been looking at what options available to me as an international student and unfortunately the support available does not cover tuition.

I have loved medical school and am absolutely committed to becoming a doctor. A third year, I was part of the rural clinical school which deepened my love and passion for this noble profession. It has been a difficult and stressful but fulfilling journey so far, and I would be grateful for any support.
