A Paws For Tech

My name is Valerie Squire. I am a registered veterinary technician and I have type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed when I was 10 years old. As I have gotten older I have become hypoglycemic unaware, basically it means I can't tell my blood sugar has dropped until it is dangerously low. When my blood sugar gets too low my body goes into a type of shock and dangerous things start happening in my brain and in the rest of my body. Over that last few years there have been agencies that have taken the time to teach service dogs how to detect low blood sugar levels through the smell the body gives off. These dogs can detect a low blood sugar before it gets dangerously low and can prevent the damaging side affects hypogyclemia causes. These dogs are anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 for the extensive training they go through. My family is helping me to save money but we will not be able to make the amount we need in time. I am asking for help because I have two small boys who depend on me every day. I live my life in fear of not waking up because of low blood sugar at night. I am scared to take my kids out shopping by myself in case I have unexcepted low and will not be able to ask for help before it's too late. Please help me achieve this goal. Any amount will help.
Thank you
