PAUL HEAVEN KIDNEY CANCER FUND
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Some of you know that just over a year ago, Christmas 2013, our friend Paul Heaven underwent surgery to remove a cancer found in one of his kidneys. His chances for a full recovery were great; he was told only a small percentage of people with this scenario have the cancer recur.
One year later, this past Christmas holiday, the family learned that Paul’s cancer had indeed spread.
Paul has been diagnosed with Mucinous Tubular and Spindle Cell Carcinoma (MTSCC), a very rare and aggressive cancer of the kidney. The disease has already spread into multiple lymph nodes, his adrenal gland, thorax, lungs and chest cavity. It is inoperable. There is no targeted drug, no cure. Paul is literally in God’s hands.
Paul and his wife Cathy have been a light to all who know them; cherished, joyful, faithful believers who have literally been Heaven on earth to so many people. They met 28 years ago while working aboard a cruise ship and will soon celebrate their 26th anniversary. Paul is a very unassuming Englishman with a quick wit and a sparkle in his eye. He always puts others first. Through the years they’ve lovingly served in churches in every city God has lead them, Cathy singing as a part of the praise team and Paul preaching and teaching Sunday school and Bible studies when he wasn’t homeschooling their four beautiful children, Ethan, Lucas, Kit, and Madelaine.
Right now Paul is suffering, in much pain, unable to eat and rapidly losing weight. The family’s need is urgent. They ask for your prayers for wisdom and of course for a full recovery, BUT WE CAN DO MORE THAN PRAY!
Both Paul and Cathy are in commission-based professions, both unable to work as Cathy is now Paul’s caregiver. As of January, almost no income will be coming in. Our friends are already struggling to meet the necessities of life: rent, utilities, groceries, and gas. They will be unable to maintain their insurance premiums. They literally face immediately losing their home and any way of covering mounting medical expenses as doctors look for experimental treatments.
This family is in desperate need of your prayers, but this plea is coming from their friends specifically to ask, in addition to your fervent prayers, for your generous financial support to help with living expenses right now. Every dollar counts. Every donation will help fill the gap so they can concentrate on fighting this illness.
