Thank you to everyone for paying your respects to my father. Our family had a viewing and service in Nebraska for my father.  We are now  tranporting him to New York for his burial.  Seeing so many loving friends and relatives is a reflection on how my father lived his life and what type of man he was.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Alexis and I am Pauls oldest daughter. My father was loved by everyone and was a wonderful father, brother, son, and friend. His family and work was his life. His love for myself, Zachary, Jasmine, and Logan is truly what kept him on his feet. I remember when I was a child thinking how thankful I was to have so many brothers and sisters because both my mother and father remarried.  We have such a big family and have shared so many amazing memories. While putting everything together we did tear up but we laughed and smiled more than anything. I would love to hear any memories that any of you have to share. My father really was something else. It's unfortunate the pain he endured from this cancer. I never would wish it upon anyone else. He did not want anyone to see his pain. I saw it and could just tell how much pain he was in but I acted like I didn’t know because it made him feel so much better. Dad never wanted to upset us. He never wanted our lives to stop because of him. About a year ago my father was diagnosed with CMML, which is a rare form of leukemia for men his age. My father fought a good fight. He didn’t want to waste the days he had left. I’m glad he is finally at peace. Dad said weeks before he passed in a strong tone, “Everything will be okay, we will get through this.” I sat there taking deep breaths before I’d answer so he couldn’t hear me cry. This hasn’t been easy. It takes a lot of deep breaths. The last time I saw my father was in December. We had laughed a lot and had conversations that were needed. My father had goals he wanted to meet but did not. One was to see my brother graduate in June from high school. I’m sorry Zachary that our father will not physically be there to hug you and say congratulations. Just know he will always be there. He will always be there for us no matter what now. Before it was at a distance but now Dad has this cool super power that he can be there for us whenever wherever.
My father was the hardest working person that I have ever met. My father cared a lot about his career and worked very hard at it. I learned a lot about the military anytime came to visit. I am currently in the ROTC program at Clarion University in Pennsylvania contracted as Active Duty for the Army. He taught me how important it is to be a good leader. I am happy to continue my military career with the gear and knowledge he has given me. I will miss my father more than words can say. I am glad that we got to spend the time we had together. I will miss him dearly and never forget him. His memory will live on in all of us forever. Please help my family and I raise money for the burial costs and travel expenses. We are struggling with money to finally put my father at rest.
