Patty's Wildfire Relief Fund

My name is Eileen. My sister, Patty has lived and worked in lovely Ventura, California for 20 years. At least it was lovely until 10:30PM, Monday,  December 4, 2017 when disaster struck. Wildfires fueled by 80 mile per hour winds and dry vegetation roared into Ventura and surrounding areas while residents peacefully slept. My sister was one of them. Sleeping unaware in her safe place, her comfortable apartment overlooking the beautiful ocean.  She woke to the sound of her son-in-law banging on her door as flames raged closer. She was able to leave with only the clothing on her back and her cellphone, racing in Brad's car to put distance between them and the inferno. Left behind, all her worldly belongings, her wallet, license, clothing, car and cooking equipment, her passion. Cooking for others brings her pleasure knowing their bellies and souls are full. Irreplaceable is her large collection of photos of her family, especially her only daughter who she raised as a single mother.

Patty is a registered nurse who for 45 years has cared for others in the Intensive Care Unit. Most recently she worked with ill newborns until earlier this year when health issues forced her to step aside. She hopes to return.  Compounding all this, she has no insurance to cover any of her belongings or her car.

The woman who has cared for others now needs care. We are hoping to raise funds to replace her belongings and car and set her up in a new apartment. Patty is a fiercely independent woman who is now depending on others. She is currently staying with her daughter but, understandably, wants to return to a home of her own to begin the healing process. We appreciate any help you may offer.
