My younger brother, Pat Schiappa, is one of the sweetest, kindest souls I have ever known.
Pat has a host of medical challenges. He has diabetes, has had several heart stents implanted, has hypothyroidism, dental complications, uses a walker due to nerve pain, and has bladder neuropathy. He also has cataracts and desperately needs to have surgery done before he goes blind.
Pat has lived his whole adult life solely on social security/social security disability, which adds up to less than $800 per month. Imagine trying to live on $800 per month, especially with lots of prescription drugs and medical treatments that always require co-pays. Well, it is impossible, so I have been doing my best to help Pat get by.
To be honest, I am simply not able to do this by myself anymore. Pat needs help, and I am hoping that those who know him and even those who do not might be able to pitch in.
