Help for Joe & Barb

Hello everyone! As most of you know our family has been turned upside down this past year as Joe Baker Sr has been battling an aggressive rapid moving cancer. Joe endured months of chemotherapy this year followed by surgery in July to remove his bladder which had been taken over by a cancerous tumor. During this surgery in July his prostate as well as 29 lymph nodes in the pelvis were also removed. What we thought was the beginning of a road to recovery has turned into just the opposite. Joe has been in excruciating pain since his  surgery, unrelieved by any and all interventions. This excrutiating pain led us to learning this month that the cancer has now spread to his lungs, bones and another tumor has evolved but this time on his spine. He was transferred from Bassett to Albany Medical Center last night after radiology confirmed that the tumor on the spine had grown significantly over the past two weeks. At 0200 surgeons here at Albany Medical Center made an attempt to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and the tumor could not be removed as it has embedded itself into the spinal cord. At this point the plan is for Joe to start radiation in a week in hopes of shrinking the tumor. It is uncertain if Joe will walk again and the cancer in his lungs and bones will still need to be addressed and treated once we get past the tumor. Anyone that knows Joe knows that he is extremely private and would never ask for help from anyone. Joe & Barb are the kind of people that would give a stranger the shirt off of their back without a question. Joe has a long road of treatments and recovery ahead. Medical bills and expenses are building and in order for Barb to stay by his side every step of the way our family is asking for help on his behalf because we know he himself would never ask for help.
