Trinity Lutheran Church's pastor has supported its members through many spiritual struggles and medical hurdles. We are now looking to support Pastor Mike Maddick and his family as he is facing esophageal adenocarcinoma, or cancer of the lower esophagus. And only months later, his wife Melanie has been diagnosed with an estrogen based breast cancer.

After being diagnosed in December 2016, Pastor has been on 2 slightly different chemotherapy regimens. Every 2 weeks he is infused with a medicine that seeks to attack his specific cancer's protein and several other kinds of chemo at the Bliss Center in Ames. Then he wears a pump for 46 hours following with an additional type of chemo. After 5 rounds, Pastor’s PET scan was encouraging, but they changed out one of the chemo drugs in hopes of increased response toward remission.
Melanie was diagnosed with an estrogen based breast cancer in late April. She has had a mastectomy of the right breast and the lymph nodes involved on May 25. In the weeks following surgery, she is having 4 chemotherapy treatments followed by radiation in the fall.
During Pastor and Melanie's treatments, Trinity would like to surround them with prayers and remind them that the church and community will support Pastor Mike & Melanie and their family.
Even with insurance, expenses add up: deductibles, co-pays, gas and vehicle expenses, prescriptions, etc. With the diagnosis in December, they are facing back to back deductables in less than 3 months plus a third for Melanie. Often it is hard to know what is needed and when, and harder yet is letting others serve you when you have a servant’s heart. Pastor Mike & Melanie have always had the hearts of servants and often reach out to those in need. Join us as we reach out to serve Pastor & Mrs. Maddick.
Prayers for strength and guidance have already been pouring in from those who have been blessed by Pastor and his family, and those prayers continue to be a blessing. His doctor can see those prayers in action. Please Keep Praying It Forward!
