Pastor Fred Douglas Helmick, 76, of Washington passed away after a short battle with cancer. Pastor Helmick was in St. Clair Hospital at the time of his passing. He left his earthly body behind on January 4, 2021 and will now forever be in the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pastor Helmick served in capacity as a Pastor for 46 years. He served as the Pastor of Albemarle Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia from 1974 until 1983. In 1983 He took over as Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Washington. That congregation joined with the Wolfdale Chapel in 1994 and became known as The Wolfdale Bible Church. Pastor Helmick was still the Pastor of the Church at the time of his passing.
Pastor Helmick was all about helping others whether it was helping someone find their way to Jesus or helping others through positions in the community. In addition to Pastoring the Church, He worked as an Aide for UCP/Pathways of Washington for 23 years, as a driver for Senior Life and for the past 6 years he drove school bus for G.G.&C. and Trinity School District.
