Parker O'Bree's Fight Against Nephroblastoma

This fundraiser has been created to support Parker and the growing O'Bree family through Parker's fight against Nephroblastoma (Wilms Disease).

At a time when Parker should be preparing to celebrate his first birthday and the arrival of his little brother, he will commence one of the biggest battles that anyone could ever undertake – his fight against cancer.

Parker is a bubbly, adventurous, and cheeky 11 month old, who has just been diagnosed with Wilms Disease. This disease usually affects one kidney, however Parker is unfortunately one of the 5% of children that develops these tumours on both kidneys - Parker has a 10cm tumour on each kidney. Unfortunately for Parker, the cancerous cells have also spread to his lungs.

Parker and his parents, Ri and Shaun, have immediately relocated to the Children's Hospital, which is 4 hours away from their home, friends and family. Parker's older sister, Ella, is also unable to be with her family and little brother, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, adding extra stress to Ri and Shaun.

Little Parker has a long road to recovery with doctors preparing the O'Bree family for at least 12 months of hospitalisation and treatments, with chemotherapy treatment commencing this week.

As Parker is starting treatment this week, it is unlikely that he will be able to meet his little brother, who will be delivered early next week. Ri’s pregnancy has already had its complications, with Parker's little brother unexpectedly having to be delivery early. Parker's family will be separated whilst Ri is in a different hospital having Parker's little brother and recovering herself. It is unknown exactly how long the O’Bree family will be separated for because of Parker being immunocompromised due to his radiation therapy, the uncertainty of Parker’s little brother’s health because of being premature, and the distance between Parker’s big sister as a result of the COVID-19 lockdowns.

This fundraiser has been created by Ri’s extended family and will go towards helping the O’Bree family’s relocation, bills, family support, and living expenses. The best way we can all help is to relieve the financial stress, so Ri and Shaun are able to focus on what is important, Parker’s health and their new baby.
