Palliative Care needs Alexi

Alexi is an RN in a small northern Canadian town. Since her first year at McGill University 5 years ago, she has set her life goal to be a warrior for Palliative care.
It is what drives every thing she does.
She is now in her 2nd year of the Master of Palliative Medicine.
Recently, life has decided to create mountains to block this goal.
Pituitary brain tumour and undiagnosed causes of possible epilepsy or MS has created havoc and fear.
Her daily job as a nurse...the incredible, stressed filled shifts all our cherished nurses deal with , is becoming more difficult.
The medical fees for specialists to see, the tuition fees for school in January 2020, and the burden of maintaining payments of school loans are destroying the little light of hope she has to finish the degree.
This funding is about support...it is about helping one young nurse to help and care for all those who have very little future left.
Theses are Alexis’ words from a bursary request letter:
” This is why I am pursuing my education at Cardiff Medical School, completing my Masters in Palliative Medicine to become a Nurse Practioner, specializing in palliative pain management. I hope to manage a palliative ward in a hospital and eventually, and potentially with a PhD, open my own hospice, to train and work along side my colleagues in the field I am most passionate about. I vow to continue working to
change the connotation of the word “palliative,” from “dying cancer patients”, to one of a broad acceptance of all terminal illnesses, treated proactively ,prophylactically and holistically early in the illness trajectory, with the goal of increasing quality and
quantity of life encompassing each patients mind, body and spirit.”
Any help, no matter how small, is appreciated enormously and will be put toward finishing the education she has begun.
