Help Us Build A Sustainable Future For Palabras!
Thank you for being part of the supportive community creating the magic that is Palabras.
In 2022, we ask you to help us raise $22,000 to help us keep our doors open and support our vision of a sustainable present and future for Palabras.
We are in a time of reflection as we complete our first seven-year cycle.
The first four years of Palabras were about laying the foundation for our core values of community and connection. The last three years have been about staying the course and letting our actions speak for us and ground us in what we know to be true: we are all connected, and with solidarity, vulnerability, and intention, we can create change.
All the artists, authors, movement workers and community members from all walks of life that we've met over the years have been a motivation for us to keep going. But it has been a struggle to keep our doors open, and we are working towards finding ways to ensure that Palabras has a sustainable future.
To have a sustainable future, we need to be able to:
1. Pay our overhead costs, like rent, utilities, etc.
2. Hire employees so that all of the work of running a community-centered space is not on the shoulders of two people.
3. Build on our physical space to ensure it has all the elements needed to grow as a community meeting and connecting location. That includes developing our café area, creating more seating and meeting spaces, completing the updates to our gallery space, and getting the tools and equipment needed to maintain and grow our Kinship garden space and projects.
4. Create a nonprofit branch of our business that enables us to fund all our community projects and pay for our space.
Your support can help us to achieve our vision of a sustainable future for Palabras by paying for:
- Overhead costs through the end of the year.
- Updates to indoor and outdoor spaces.
- An espresso machine and coffee cart for our café
- Paying the fees associated with starting the nonprofit.
Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $22,000 in 2022!

Whether or not you’re able to contribute financially right now, there several ways that you can help us reach our goal.
- Spread the word - Share the GoFundMe with people in your life who you know have been impacted by Palabras's work and the space it’s created in our community! If you have access to broader networks via social media, organization newsletters, etc. spread the word there too!
- Buy a book (or two!) - Whether you’re looking for your next excellent read or a great gift for someone in your life, buying books from Palabras is a beautiful way to show your support. So stop by in person or visit www.palabrasbookstore.com to help sustain our community-based work!
- Provide specific needed items - Maybe you don't have funds, but you know an electrician who would like to volunteer to install the track lighting in our gallery. Or maybe you have a commercial espresso machine to donate or a coffee cart or know how to build one. Perhaps you would like to contribute trowels and gloves for the garden. Please reach out to us to offer what you can.
