Paisley Hagy Recovering from Lead Climbing Fall Injury

Our brave Paisley has always been passionate about rock climbing, but a devastating accident has temporarily taken her away from the sport she loves so much.

On January 31, 2024, while climbing, she was tragically dropped from 30 feet in the air by her belayer, who had become distracted. She was taken to Dallas Children's Medical Center with first-degree trauma injuries. After emergency care, Paisley was found to have spinal cord fractures at T5, T6, T7, T9, T11 and T12, severe concussions, and chipped teeth. To manage her intense pain, doctors administered morphine. The concussions were so severe that she couldn't tolerate bright light for several days.

In the face of such adversity, Paisley has shown incredible strength and positivity. By the third day, against all odds, she began to take her first steps since the accident, to the admiration and cheers of all who were there. It was nothing short of God's miracle.

Now, two months later, Paisley's recovery journey continues. She's been discharged from the hospital, but faces a minimum of 12 months of physical therapy. Her concussion specialist mandates regular check-ups every six weeks, and the traumatic impact of the fall has led to nightmares and fears, prompting her family to seek a trauma counselor to help Paisley navigate her fears and anxiety.

As Paisley battles through the physical and mental repercussions of her accident, her family is confronting a growing financial burden. Medical bills have already surpassed $100,000, with more on the horizon.
