Help Tina Fight Breast Cancer

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. My sister is one of them. Meet Kristina. She is my big sister. She is the mother of three crazy adorable kids ages 13, 8 and 4. She’s only 37.

When she found the lump in her breast she went and sought medical advice. A mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy later she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, grade 3. It’s aggressive, but so is she.

At the beginning of the diagnostic phase her insurance told her they wouldn’t pay for the testing or treatment due to not being covered for 2 years. The medical bills started pouring in. She’s now fought her way for coverage under the Affordable Care Act but still owes for the mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, and the appointments with the surgeon. If you’ve ever looked at your “summary of benefits” from your insurance company, you know those numbers are absurdly high.

We’ve all rallied around her to be by her side in this battle but the financial burden is more than all of us can handle. She will be having a double mastectomy after her insurance becomes active (May 1st), followed most likely by chemotherapy. I want to be able to raise enough money so she can focus on fighting cancer, not the insurance company. If you know my sister, you know she doesn’t ask for help. With. Anything.
