Ashley's Medical Expenses

Don protégé
Just a couple weeks ago, Ashley wasn't feeling well and found herself going to the hospital to get treatment for the pain she was having from an infection in her body. At that time, no one knew the extent of what was going on, but that infection had turned into sepsis and was wreaking havoc on her internal organs. Her kidneys had almost completely shut down and she was virtually at the point of kidney failure, and her liver was also not functioning properly. She has been in the hospital for about 3 weeks, and while God has done many miracles so far, including seeing her kidneys return to a normal level of function, her liver is still not recovering. She needs to have a liver biopsy done, which may even lead to needing a transplant, and neither of those can or should be done at the medical facility she is at right now. Very soon, she will be transferred to a bigger facility in either South Florida, Georgia or Alabama that is more equipped to treat her in these next steps. Along with missing time from work, there are many expenses that are being incurred that are not covered by insurance so any assistance to help Ashley and the family during this time would be greatly appreciated.

Update - Many of you have followed this journey through Facebook or other means and have seen the ups and downs. Ashley has now been in Jackson Memorial Hospital down in Miami for over 60 days now. Thank the Lord that during this time she has been getting better but that hasn't come without some other bumps along the road. We are so pleased that she is now not likely to require a liver transplant but she is still facing some big hurdles. Covid was really rough and did some extensive damage to her lungs which are still trying to recover. She has been on a ventilator this whole time and that is the next big hurdle for her to overcome so she can really progress with her healing and PT. She is also dealing with kidneys that aren't functioning much at this point so she is having dialysis multiple times a week for that which is another impact she will be dealing with until they are healed! God has been so good and has clearly intervened and we are thankful for everyone's faithful prayers. We are praying for enough of a recovery to happen so that she can be home for her birthday, December 1st! As you can imagine being away from home and family, out of work and in the ICU this entire time there are out of pocket expenses and things that insurance just doesn't cover. Any generosity that you can show will no doubt be such a blessing to her when she does get home and begins to rebuild her home. To those that have already given, thank you so much for your generosity and support, the family is so grateful.
