Therapy Dogs for ELC Brook Park

We are incredibly fortunate to have the honor of teaching Kindergarten in one of the largest school districts in the state of Indiana. Our community is incredibly diverse, which is something that we embrace and celebrate. Several of our families come from a low socioeconomic status, and 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is a Title I school, which means we receive funding from the federal government to provide intensive reading and math support for students that are considered to be academically at risk. The staff at our school is incredibly dedicated to teaching the whole child, using research-based practices to develop each student in mind, body, and spirit.Our school is in desperate need of two therapy dogs, who can serve as companions for our students. It is proven that these animals can have a positive effect on emotional well-being. Therapy dogs are known to have  the ability to help people gain and maintain coping skills. 

We have students that have high needs medically, spiritually, emotionally, and academically. It is our hope that a therapy will assist in providing a calming and centered learning environment. 

Our school community has recently experienced a tragic loss, and we have witnessed firsthand how therapy dogs can not only ease the anxiety of children, but also adults. We have an incredibly positive school environment, and we feel that this would be the ultimate gift to give to our students. Thank you for your support, it truly means the world to us!
