Please Help Us Save Callie!

Hello. We are really hoping anybody - or everybody can help us get Callie, an 8 week old German Shepard rescue puppy, healthy again & home to her new Mom & Dad - Rachel & Travis.   She is currently receiving treatment at the Humane Society.

So here's what happened: This past week, my daughter & her husband went against their better judgment & looked into the ads of Craigslist in hopes of finding a new puppy. My daughter was elated when they found a lady who was selling ("rehoming") some adorable german shepard puppies in the area, so they agreed to meet this lady "in a public area for safety purposes" to look at her puppies.  Rachel & Travis agreed to take the lady's puppy that day because of course they fell in love with Callie immediately. They paid the lady the "rehoming fee" & received what we now know is a forged or fake shot record for this 7 week old puppy.  What we also know now is this lady & her family are involved in an illegal puppy milling operation in Southern California. We are currently working on the legal aspect of this nightmare. The plan is to shut down these people completely.  In looking at the Craigslist posts in that area, (southern California) these people are currently SELLING at least 17 breeds of puppies & we fear that most have contracted this PARVO virus.  We want to shut them down & save all those puppies!

So anyway, my daughter & her husband took this puppy home & settled in with her. They bathed her immediately because she was filthy, had chewed gum stuck to her and was sadly just full of fleas and ticks. (another reason they bought this puppy; they absolutely pitied this poor thing) A trip to Petco and they got everything available for this new member of the family -  blankets, bedding, toys, training pads, food, soap, etc.

They also contacted a veterinarian to set up an exam & consultation, scheduling for Tuesday, May 16th .

They started noticing that Callie slept quite a bit for being as young & supposedly playful as she should be.  But they figured she was just adjusting to living without her other mom.

Sunday afternoon came & Callie seemed really ill. They called the vet & explained the symptoms & the emergency doctor said "come in right now." --

My daughter took her new FurBaby to this doctor & was told she had parvo and roundworms & there was really no hope for her.  I don't know if you've ever been in a situation like this, but it is the most excruciatingly painful experience - you'll never forget.

Now as painful as it was, I told my daughter that she actually rescued this baby & let her feel love & affection & made her  smile - trying to help it not hurt so bad. I didn't know what else to say.

They took Callie to the Humane Society & told them what happened. They took her in to try & help and warned Rachel that there wasn't a great deal of hope with this kind of thing. Parvo was near fatal. But they were going to try. They also advised that this type of treatment is VERY VERY expensive - maybe into the "thousands of dollars" which would be really hard for this family, but we are a determined bunch, so we're reaching out to the world for help. Please please help us raise the money for Callie's care and treatment at the Humane Society.

Apparently as of today, (Wednesday, May 17th) there is hope! We swear it's a miracle - as Callie is responding well to her treatment!

So please help us get her home! If you can't help financially, please join us in our prayers for her! And, thank you in advance for anything & everything!
