Hearing Aids for Mom

Whether you've been in a Discord call with me and heard her in the background, (or she'll come right up to my mic to say hi to whomever I am talking to) seen her over video with me at a convention, or just plain met her in person, chances are you've met my Mom. Multiple friends can vouch for her liveliness with no recollection of her age, her friendliness towards almost anyone especially my friends within the Furry community, and love for looming her scarves, cardmaking, and anything else creative. One of the things she loves the most is to hear me laugh -- but recently that's become incredibly hard for her to enjoy. After recently revealing to me a constant ringing in her ear has been going on for over a year now, a recent doctor visit has concluded the unfortunate discovery of hearing loss. After how she described how it is affecting her, having to wake up and go to sleep with a constant nagging ringing only to be drowned out by music -- I spent the rest of the night trying not to break down. She needs hearing aids. If you know me, I'm not one to ask for help. I will help others and sacrifice my own needs just to make sure that everyone else is happy.

I am scared.

As scared as I am to ask for help, I do not think I have any other choice at the moment. The doctor she saw charged her $200+ just to be SEEN and told that she needs them with no temporary relief; leaving her out of $200 and still in distress. The hearing aids cost $4000. We do not have insurance to cover any kind of medical incidents that may arise between us. The two of us live alone together and have not recovered from escaping my abusive father back in 2012. The neighbors who live in the apartment above us have no respect for our sanity as they constantly let their kid run, throw, stomp, jump and drop stuff -- which is doing nothing but hurt my mom's hearing farther. Between trying to survive and desperately looking for a house to live in and escape our current living situation, we have absolutely no money to afford the relief she needs. I would ideally love to be able to present this as a (potentially early) Christmas present; if not by the end of the year so 2021 can be a better start for her. The $4000 will 100% go towards getting her hearing aids. Anything extra will go towards any extra costs regarding the hearing aids and/or food/rent. I can't promise this won't be the last time I ask for help. But for now, just this once I -am- asking for help.
