Straighten Zacks back without surgery

 Most of you already know and love my son Zack and how many challenges he has already faced in his short life. For those of you who don't, Zack is seven years old, was born early at 1.96 kg, with Velo Cardio Facial Syndrome, he had heart surgery at 4 months old and has been hospitalised countless times over the years. He however remains forever happy, cheerful and loving, and just views all his hospital visits as a wonderful opportunity to make new friends.

Zack has severe scoliosis, which unfortunately over the last 12 months this has deteriorated so badly that the Orthapaedic doctors who look after him want to operate. His surgery was scheduled for 2nd August, but we believe we should try every option available to try and delay this surgery until he is older, as it involves putting 2 rods into his spine, major surgery, which would have to be followed up every 6 to 8 months with more surgery to lengthen the rods.... however, they can only lengthen them a finite number of times, and then they would fuse his spine, so it doesn't grow (and therefore bend) anymore. Having the surgery so young, would obviously mean fusion before he is fully grown, which would lead to all sorts of other complications and maybe a lifetime of pain.

which has been doing amazing work with scoliosis, Zack had two week treatment there in July, and we are going back for another 2 week in September, we have also been to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Melbourne, who doesn't recommend surgery until Zackary is older, and has given us some other options of non invasive treatment which we are currently looking at.
