Hello All,
Our family has established this campaign to raise money for Bill Huntley, and his wife, Denise D’Eri. Bill, who is known as Grandpa Bill to his family, was diagnosed with liver cancer in February 2019. He underwent chemotherapy and the tumor was destroyed; however, doctors said his only option going forward was to get a new liver. Early this summer Bill was accepted into the program and added to the list, amid getting our support network and fundraising started he got the most amazing call.
On August 23, 2019, at 4 AM, Bill got the call that would save his life, a liver was available, the most amazing gift.
Grandpa Bill and Denise drove to Lahey Hospital where he underwent 7-hour liver transplant surgery.
Bill is on the road to recovery, but it has not been easy. The first few days went well, but now he is in ICU due to his kidneys are not working properly. While Bill is in the hospital, Denise, as Bill’s primary caretaker, must stay at a nearby hotel. Bill and Denise own their own small business with 2 employees so as of the Friday August 23rd phone call, work has slowed down. Bill will be in the hospital for at least another week if not more then will have a long recovery that could take up to a year. They will continue to travel back to Lahey Hospital for doctor’s visits even after they are able to return to their home in Wolfeboro, NH.
We are asking for your help to ease the financial burden so Bill can focus on healing and getting well. Your donation will help cover the additional daily living expenses, food, gas, and hotel stays near the hospital. And if needed supplement their income to help with paying the mortgage, utilities, and other household expenses,
Any amount makes a difference, whether large or small. Grandpa Bill’s biggest desire is to see his young granddaughter and great granddaughters grow up and graduate from high school. Helping Bill get well and achieve this goal means everything to our family.
