Help for the Johnson Family

At the end of January, I was given a great blessing. When I entered the gym for my youngest kids swim lesson, I saw a teen swimming laps. I figured that since he was swimming at 2 pm, he must be homeschooled. I wonder why he wasn't swimming on our high school homeschool team. When I approached his mother to find out what their story was, I was shocked to find out that she was recently widowed and left with 7 kids aged 16, 14, 13, 12  12, 11 and 11.  Their dad, Martin, was an avid swimmer, and their oldest son loved to swim.

I was able to add him to our roster for the homeschool state meet, and he and his relay won 2 silver medals! He is a dedicated and talented young man. He continues to swim every day. I coach him when I am at the gym and send him workouts when I can't be there.

I am hoping we can raise enough money for him to be able to swim year round with a local team. I see great talent and potential in him but I also know that swimming connects him to his dad. It is his source of dealing with grief and allowing his heart to heal slowly.

Throughout the last month,  his 13 year old brother, Andrew, has come to every practice as well. If we could raise enough money for these boys, it would be amazing. Let's show them that God the Father will provide for the fatherless.
