OutRun Anxiety
Donation protected
My biggest passion in life is helping others feel more comfortable in their own skin by overcoming emotional struggles. As a child and adolescent psychotherapist, I was surprised to see the high number of young people struggling with crippling and debilitating anxiety. They are plagued with worries about school, friends, athletics, homework, grades, sleepovers, family, health, safety, bullies, and much more.
Anxiety has a way of enveloping children and adolescents in an endless loop of worry they can't escape. They often describe feeling alone with their worries and powerless over their thoughts and feelings. Without help, this can lead to isolation, depression, and even suicide.
So what can we do?
Your support and donations will help me organize the first "OutRun Anxiety" fall fundraiser. This new event promises to not only raise awareness and destigmatize mental illness but also help those suffering to feel more connected and empowered. OutRun Anxiety will take place at a local high school and will include speeches from children discussing their own mental health experiences , followed by a 1 mile fun run, and ending with an exciting carnival like experience that includes bouncy houses, concession stands, and dunk tanks.
Donations will be used to help organize Outrun Anxiety. All extra proceeds, as well as ALL proceeds from the event will be donated to UMTTR (you matter), a non profit organization that is dedicated to educating the public about child and adolescent mental illness. UMTTR was founded in response to the tragic suicide of a local teenager. For more information, please visit www.umttr.org.
I thank each and every one of you in advance for supporting this cause that is so near and dear to my heart.
