Our Mum Needs Urgent Surgery

Hi there, Carol is a dear friend to many of us and she urgently needs surgery. Below is a message from her children: 

"Our Mum needs urgent surgery.

There's a growth in her ear that has eaten away the bone that protects her brain from infection. It is imperative that she have the surgery as soon as possible, as she is susceptible to ear infections and gets them quite often.

There is one surgeon with the experience to do this sort of surgery, as it is quite specialised. Several other surgeons have referred her to this same surgeon. While he has done his best to keep costs as low as possible, Mum will still need to find $3721 to pay up front before she can have the surgery .

Mum is a 69 year old pensioner, she has not done paid work for for many years but has worked tirelessly helping others , she is a well known face at Martin Place (NSW) feeding the homeless , running around all week collecting food and blankets .

I have seen her all of a sudden race a car load of blankets into the city late at night because people are freezing.

I have seen her leaning on the kitchen bench peeling vegetables yet struggling because of her bad knees.

Then there is the work she does for missing and abused children which is something she is very passionate about.

There is definitely an element of shame in even writing this. I wish we had the funds to give her, but we don't. I am hoping that because she has never made one person she has helped over her 69 years feel shame because of the position they were in, she will not feel any shame now accepting help from others."
