Our sweet IOP Harris Teeter checker is HOMELESS

Donation protected
Keera and her disabled husband Timothy Urick have been homeless since April. Keera and her husband were looking for a new apartment in January because their current lease was coming to an end and the new lease would be raised to a rate they could no longer afford... unfortunately, like so many! After many weeks of researching and applying for housing, they made a contact on Craigslist... Yes, I know a really common place to get scammed and so sad. Keera and Timothy thought this was their best option so they accepted the opportunity to move into this place offered through a man named Larry Donnell on Craigslist. The key was given to them via a lockbox on the front door. They moved in the first week of February, after paying a $2,000 security deposit, $1,000 for last month's rent, and $2,000 for the month of February and March. They lived there for just under 8 weeks when the rightful owner (American Homes for Rent) came and informed them they were trespassing and they were to immediately vacate the home. They were told they had until 5 pm to get all their belongings out. Unable to accommodate that quickly, all their belongings were removed from the house and dumped in the driveway while it was raining. They used what little money they had to get a moving truck and a storage unit to store their belongings. Now everything they own is in a storage unit which will be put up for auction on August 27th if they can't come up with the necessary money to pay back rent and late fees. During this time they have lived in their car when unable to afford a hotel room. There are days they don't eat, but what is offered at the hotel continental breakfast. They have tried HUD, although make too much money, and not enough to qualify or pay for most housing costs in our area. They are drownding from the application fees that run around $50 for every application they take out and then they are told they don't qualify and would be required to put down more deposit $ and first and last. They don't have the money for the extra deposits because they never received their $2,000 deposit and $1,000 last month's rent back from the scammer. They, of course, filed a police report and have tried local charities, churches, and other resources for help with food, etc... They are commuting Keera to IOP from Suburban hotel in N. CHS every day for work, and her husband waits in the car for her because gas prices are too high for him to go back to the hotel. Keera has worked at Harris Teeter for 2.5 years and is picking up every shift she can and trying to get as much overtime as she can but now in the offseason, there is no more overtime or extra shifts available. The hotel is draining all their pay as you know there is nothing under $100 per night even in N. CHS so they just can't catch up or save when they are spending @$3,500 a month for a hotel. Keera is embarrassed about this and feels ashamed to ask for help, but I told her it's okay to ask for help... we all have to sometimes! She has given me permission to start a Gofundme for them. This is my first ever Gofundme... and I normally would never do this unless I really felt someone needed help! They have no family that can help them financially or with housing locally. They owe $1,175 in back rent and late fees for their storage unit. They owe $3,000 + and $408 (with late fees) in car payments and late fees, which if they don't catch up they will repo their car again and then they end up with more fees and she won't be able to get to work! They also have some other debts and medical bills (Timothy had pneumonia for a couple of months last December) piling up since they have been homeless. It's a vicious cycle and this is why I am asking any of you who shop at Harris Teeter or just want to help out a hard-working sweet human who can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Every penny helps...
