Our Special Friend Spike

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Most of the varying medical test results are in and tragically are not good. Spike has advanced oesophageal and secondary bone cancers, and I am sure you will all know what this means. He has deteriorated quite rapidly and is now confined to a hospital bed in his flat, surrounded by his beloved vinyl. We have managed to get the pain under control without him being too spaced out or drowsy and most days he is quite chipper and, with the love and care of his family, is able to listen to his latest music delivery. As the disease has progressed so rapidly the financial benefits available to cover rent, bills, and ongoing care are not yet in place, so I am banging on quite a few doors! He is receiving palliative care from North London Hospice who have been amazing in supporting his wish to stay out of hospital and in his flat. In his words, he has had a good life and if the time is now, he's ok with that. If you wish to send a message probably best to do it through my Facebook Messenger @fayeserlin, and I can read to him.
