Our Quest with Baby Q

On 7-7-17 Quinton Marshall Leitza was born at the Sauk Prairie Hospital at 3:55pm. Unfortunately, he was born with many unforeseeable life threatening health issues.

Quinton was born with a rare genetic disorder called DiGeorge Syndrome which affects the endocrine system and includes a wide variety of symptoms and features that differ greatly in severity and character between individuals. For Quinton, among many other complications, that meant a rare type of congenital heart disease. he has pulmonary Atresia with tetralogy of Fallot and VDS and was rushed into emergency surgery just one day after he was born.

Despite surgery going as well as it could for him, Quinton is already a month and a half old and still remains in the hospital where he is not only recovering from surgery but is also currently being treated for his adrenal insufficiency, congenital absence of thymus gland, severe branch pulmonary artery hypoplasia and thrombus. While he is there his mother and 2 older brothers, who are anxious to bring him home, have recently started staying at the Ronald McDonald house while his father has sadly had to return home to work.
DiGeorge Syndrome not only causes developmental delays physically but cognitively as well, and he will later have to be tested for autism and other learning disabilities.

With so many unknowns and this being only the first of many surgeries to come, he definitely has a very long journey ahead of him, however, being surrounded by so much love and support he has shown us that he is strong and will continue to fight.
We are currently looking to raise money to help make up for lost wages from extended unpaid leave, help with gas for the long trips to and from the hospital, help with current and future medical expenses that will occur due to the continuing care that Quinton will require and to also be able to give back some to the Ronald McDonald house for helping keep family together during this very trying time. Any contributions are greatly appreciated.
