Our miracle boy Angus needs another miracle
This past weekend our miracle boy Angus was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Anyone who knows Angus and his parents Ryan and Hayley knows the story of how Angus entered the world fighting. He was born at 26 weeks and 760 grams with a small chance of survival. But has beaten the odds at every milestone.
If you have met Angus, or ever get the pleasure to meet him, you will know him as a smart, funny, sweet, vivacious boy with a cheeky sense of humour and a captivating laugh. AML is an aggressive form of Leukemia and requires multiple rounds of chemo and other treatments. He has one hell of a fight ahead to beat this disease and come home to his family.
The AML diagnosis has caught the family completely off guard and Angus had to be flown to Brisbane, some 600kms away from his home in Rockhampton. With his dad Ryan for comfort and support, his mum Hayley and sister Molly have had to stay behind for work and school. They will need to make regular trips to see Angus on weekends and wherever possible during his treatment, which is likely to take 6 months or more. They will also need additional funds for any supplies and accommodation while travelling to be with and support Angus.
Hayley and Ryan are a hard working family who have had recent hardship when their newly opened restaurant "Port Scallywag" had to close its doors due to the challenges of maintaining a new restaurant business during the COVID 19 Pandemic. The beloved local is missed by many and Hayley and Ryan have been working tirelessly to close off their debts and resolve the heartache. This simply could not have come at a worse time for them.
