Let’s go back to where it began in Marc’s memory
Marc Walls was born on 29th February 1984 on a leap year in Plymouth, UK. He was born with congenital heart disease and only had 2 chambers instead of 4 chambers in his heart. It was also discovered that all of Marcs organs were on the opposite side of his body and not where they are suppose to be. He was then always known as “Mirror Image Boy” or “Miracle Marc Walls”.
Marc started his journey at Southampton Hospital from 9 months old were he required multiple surgeries as a child and an adult, which also included major open heart surgery at 9 months old and again at 26 years old.
Whilst having countless surgeries he spent a lot of time in Southampton intensive care unit away from his home, family and friends. Marc and Carol, his mum, and family were very well supported by all the staff at Southampton Hospital and associated organisations like heartbeat house.
When Marc was born they got told that he was a 1 in a million baby and wouldn't make it to his teens. Thanks to the amazingly talented and knowledgeable heart surgeons and staff at Southampton Hospital he made it to 37 years of age.
We would like to finish Marcs story where it began and we are asking for donations for the amazing hospital that gave these precious extra years to us as a family, so that other families starting there journey with there miracle babies can continue to be supported in the amazing way that both Marc, his family and especially his mum were as she feels its a fitting end to Marcs story.
