Our Lady of Lourdes' AWAKENING CONCERT

A NEW DATE for the AWAKENING concert > Friday, February 12, 2021 @ 7 pm.
“AWAKENING” happens when passion meets purpose. Our AWAKENING Concert will combine music and imagery for the purpose of supporting our Soup Kitchen of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. The concert will feature a World Premier, Latin orchestral piece written by Julian Molina Abad and conducted by Sam Sharp. We will also be gifted by the Gospel Choir of St. Agatha parish as well as our own soloist Jennifer Carlin. Fr Michael Shanahan and Johanna Ortegon will present a variation of the Sergei Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto on two pianos. This virtual concert will be testimony to the power that is created when passion unites with purpose. Our ultimate sense of purpose and passion comes from the Christ. Thank God for the faith that leads us forward.
To say that 2020 has been a life-altering year is not hyperbole. We have been AWAKENED in many ways. From the ways we "see" each other, to the ways we share information, ideas, collaborate...some stronger than before.
The Soup Kitchen has seen changes this year as well. The weekly gathering of "serving" our guests with a sit-down meal inside the school hall has transitioned to handing out a brown-bag meal outside of the school hall and cursory hospitality as the lines have of those needing to be fed have gotten longer and time spent together is lessened.
The pandemic is not over: the social distancing, the masking, the isolation still continues...as does the need to feed the hungry.
A month ago, we announced we had to postpone the AWAKENING concert because of pandemic-related changes we were asked to make by the Archdiocese in how it was performed. As the committee, the performers, along with the videographer discussed how to make these changes, pivoting once again, a new date was chosen.
We have been AWAKENED by more changes that affect our parish community: Renew My Church is underway with shifts that have not yet been determined, but coming. Additionally, this will be the first year we will not hold our Annual Dinner Dance, which is our parish celebration around the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes (February 11).
The decision was made to hold the AWAKENING concert on Friday, February 12 at 7 p.m. The concert itself remains free, but YOUR DONATION today will help those who find themselves in more need than ever imagined and to feed those who are hungry in our community. It allows us to join forces and lean on each other, to be a vehicle of blessings..and with your generosity, allows us to do extraordinary things.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Our Lady of Lourdes. Our goal is $50,000 with $6,760 remaining. Not only do we need your support, we need your help to spread the word. Please tell your friends and family why you believe in our work and encourage them to support us too!
