Deep in the forest of what is now known as Bucksport, SC, formally known as Bucks Township; part of the mill that built the Henrietta, the largest wooden ship that was ever built in S.C. that was launched from Bucksville in April, 29 1875. We have found the lost Eddy Lake Cemetery.
If you go online to "findagrave.com" and put in Eddy Lake Cemetery, in the comments you will find "This cemetery has been destroyed, unsure of what happened to it at this time."
This cemetery of close to 100 graves marked and unmarked is a significant discovery for the community and it's orgin of Horry County as well as the slave and post emancipation history.
In order to attract historic preservation organizations and archaeological help, we must pay for the initial under brush clearing and removal of 67,000 sq ft of densely populated forestry.
