Our Hero Evan ~

I am starting this page in honor of my buddy, Evan. Evan is a 5 year old, who has a smile that can brighten a room! Unfortunately, he suffers from Hydrocephalus and CP, which makes daily tasks more challenging. Evan doesn't walk, talk, feed himself, and eats most of his food througha tube. Although we are so happy he is growing everyday, his growth spirt have made feeding time more difficult. In school, Evan's teachers can use a special feeding chair to have him in the perfect position for him to be comfortable and eat properly. However, at home , mom needs to resort to her lap, which is not comfortable for Evan or herself. Not only is feeding time an issue, but relaxing time is not easy. Most of the time Evan, a very long, big, 5 year old, is blopped on mom's lap to watch shows, play with sight toys, etc. Again, in school, Evan has access to a "chill out" chair, that contours to his body and something Evan loves.

Of course, since these are "special needs" items, the prices are on the higher end, and the insurance will not cover these items.  I am starting his page just to raise some money to cover the cost of the chairs, so Evan and mom can be more comfortable in their everyday routines. We all try to pitch in and hold Evan here and there, but feeding him is something mom does. The feeding chair would be such a relief for mom (and her back) and make dinner time more doable. Also, with a chair Evan cannot roll out of and be comfortable in, will give mom more time to get things done in the house, like dishes, laundry, making dinner and lunch for the next day, etc. All the simple things we take for granted and dread doing, she needs to wait till Evan is sleeping and she can start doing her things, of course after a whole day of working and then a evaning with Evan, she now needs to start the real work for the next day. 2 simple things can change their little castle into such a happy place, more comfortable and more doable.
