Those who have met the Correas know that our grandma Aminta is the center of our family and lives. She is a strong woman who has fought hard for her family and for giving us the greatest love and happiness possible. She is one of those warriors who, without having fortune or wealth, has given everything for her children, grandchildren, friends and would help even those she doesn't know.
On September 29, she fainted and had to be hospitalized.
Our grandma, who has always being a healthy, happy and restless woman, gave us a terrible surprise: the doctors explained that her heart wasn't functioning properly and then detected a significant atrial fibrillation that led to severe heart failure with the risk of death. After lots of exams they concluded that there was a leakage on the tricuspid valve, which left fluid in her lungs, made breathing difficult for her and caused swelling in her legs, which made it impossible for her to walk as she was used to.
In the last few days she received palliative treatment to stabilize her condition, but she will require surgery to place a clip on the tricuspid valve and improve the functioning of this valve, which is responsible of all our grandmother's health problems.
It is difficult for our family to afford all the expenses of their hospitalization in the United States —knowing how incredibly expensive health costs are in the US— and the process that is to come to keep our beloved grandmother alive. As many Venezuelans, we also emigrated from our country and now the family is scattered around the world, starting from scratch.
That's why we need all the help we can get and will be forever grateful to everyone that can help us, either with donations or by spreading the word.

To pay her medical expenses: her hospitalization, her medical treatment, the visits to the doctor and a surgery.
How will we be using the money for?
A portion of the funds will be paid to Baptist Hospital in Kendall, Miami, where she was hospitalized. The rest of the money will be used to pay her treatments, consultations, exams and surgery. The person in charge of withdrawing the funds will be our aunt Bertha, who lives with her and takes care of her in Miami.

Quienes han conocido a los Correa saben que la abuelita Aminta es el centro de nuestra familia, de nuestras vidas. Es una mujer fuerte que ha luchado mucho para sacar adelante a su familia y darnos el mayor cariño y felicidad posible. Es de esas guerreras que sin tener fortuna lo ha dado todo por sus hijos, nietos, amigos y ayudaría incluso a quienes no conoce. El pasado 29 de septiembre, ella se desvaneció y tuvimos que hospitalizarla de emergencia.
La abuelita, que siempre ha sido una mujer muy sana, alegre e inquieta, nos dio una terrible sorpresa: los médicos explicaron que su corazón estaba fallando y detectaron una fibrilación auricular importante que la llevó a una insuficiencia cardíaca grave con riesgo de muerte. En los estudios concluyeron que había una insuficiencia de la válvula tricúspide, que originó acumulación de líquido en sus pulmones, asfixia, dificultad para respirar e hinchazón en las piernas, lo que le imposibilitó caminar como antes.
Actualmente se sometió a un tratamiento paliativo para estabilizar su condición, pero va a requerir a mediano plazo una cirugía para colocarle un clip en la válvula tricúspide y mejorar el funcionamiento de esta válvula, que es la causante de todos los problemas de salud de nuestra abuelita.
Para nuestra familia es difícil costear todos los gastos de su hospitalización en Estados Unidos —sabiendo lo increíblemente cara que es la salud en Estados Unidos— y del proceso que está por venir para mantener viva a nuestra amada abuelita. Como ha pasado con muchos venezolanos, nosotros también debimos emigrar de nuestro país y ahora la familia está dispersa por el mundo, comenzando de nuevo a construir una vida.
