Our friend John Hefner needs our help

Updating All Friends of John Hefner - former Fruitvale principal and Bakersfield Sister City Chair.
We all have different personal relationships with John Hefner – a colleague, History Day coach, community leader, and always a good friend.
Unfortunately John has fallen on some tough times. In November, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma – for the past weeks John has been under the care of CBCC. As a retired principal, his health insurance is providing for medical care but not home care. Due to John’s very weakened condition while he undergoes 3-4 months of chemo treatment, he needs 24-hour care at home.
At this stage in his life and due to personal financial issues, John cannot cover the $2300/week cost of 24-hour care. That is why this GoFundme campaign is important.
Please help with donations for John’s care. You can participate by donating to this Go Fund Me campaign (managed with power of attorney by Cathy Abernathy and Bud Burrow). Please understand that 100% of these funds (outside of a 3% fee required by Go Fund Me) will be spent specifically on John Hefner’s personal care and supplies at home.
