Our Dog Was Shot - Please Help!

Donation protected

November 17, 2019 was just another day for us. I woke up early to go to work, it was my girlfriend's day off so she got to relax lazily in bed before her sister and our nieces came over, and there's nobody that my dogs love on this Earth more than our nieces (we even think they love them more than they do us).

When the girls came to the door, the dogs were so beside themselves with excitement they ran right out the door. While it's usually typical for our dogs to do a lap in the yard out of sheer joy before running back into the house, this time they ran off into the distance. Loading up into our cars, and with the help of Lost Dogs of [City], we managed to track down our two dogs to a couple roads over in another neighborhood. We managed to find our youngest dog Kalinka (nickname "Bean") okay, but we couldn't find Tyrion anywhere. Driving up next to a crowd of people we asked if any of them had seen another husky anywhere.

"Yep," the man replied. "I just shot him."

Immediately our hearts sank into our chests. Surely this had to be a sick joke. We pulled into the driveway and spoke with him for a few moments. He claims that the dogs were terrorizing his yard, so he took shots at them to "scare them away" and claims he was never trying to hit them, but the bullet wound that Tyrion took says otherwise. I apologize in advance for the following description.

The bullet went diagonally though his chest, breaking some of his ribs from the impact and absolutely shredding his intestines to ribbons. It took the entire first night Tee spent in the ER in order to stabilize him to even consider him ready for surgery. The next evening he went under the knife to have almost 40% of his intestines removed, but now as of 11/19/2019 he is currently battling an infection in his abdomen where his intestinal fluids were leaking, as well as kidney failure from the stress of his injuries.

Lindsey and I are not proud with having to ask for help from strangers, but a civil dispute over $34~ worth of chickens being allegedly killed (trust me, there was plenty of time to research the cost while in the ER) is now costing us almost $5500 dollars in emergency medical bills. Tyrion was in such horrific shape when he arrived at the ER they immediately began talking to us about having to euthanize him. It's a miracle he's even still alive right now.

I have currently set the goal to $7500 because they want to keep him for the rest of the week to keep an eye on his kidneys and abdominal infection. If we somehow absolutely blow past this thanks to your help and kindness, we will use the extra money to rebuild our fence even taller that the dogs wouldn't be able to jump it. We would also have it completely redone with alternating boards so that the dogs wouldn't be able to push through it, as well as add concrete around the bottom so they couldn't dig under it either. Any additional funding we receive after this we will donate to our local animal shelter.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO HELP. EVERY LITTLE BIT, EVEN IF JUST A DOLLAR, HELPS. IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DONATING TO STRANGERS THEN PLEASE AT THE VERY LEAST SHARE THIS PAGE. EVEN IF THE WORST COMES TO PASS WE STILL HAVE TO PAY THIS BILL. WE LOVE ALL OF OUR ANIMALS LIKE THEY'RE OUR OWN CHILDREN AND WE HATE TO SEE THEM SUFFER - ESPECIALLY LIKE THIS.
