Our dearest friend Annie is mired in medical debt after cancer surgery
Annie is a friend of over 45 years who is the most generous person we know. She helped us out when we had nothing, and now she has less than nothing. We need to help her. Annie just had cancer surgery in Tampa at Moffitt Hospital. Her bladder and other organs had to be removed and she is being sent home five days after surgery to figure out her own rehab. Her insurance hasn’t covered thousands of dollars or pre-surgery costs. Much of her rehab will also be out of pocket, and prescriptions need to be filled. Her partner, Frank, has had 5 strokes and has been fortunate to have Annie as his caregiver for the last twelve tears. He needs daily nursing care now that Annie can no longer provide. She needs homecare herself. They’ve gone through their meager savings and are facing five figure surgery costs, new rehab costs not covered by insurance, and Frank’s nursing care. We’ve helped where we could, but the situation is bigger than our ability to make a major difference.
