Our Companion Needs A Doctor
How do you even put into words how wonderful Gillian Thomas is? (I'm not convinced it is possible, but I am going to try.)
I know I'm not speaking just for myself when I say how imcomparable a friendship with Gillian is. There are so few people who can completely change the dynamic in a room just by walking through the door- that laugh! That smile!
Gillian is the greatest cheerleader I know. She is always pushing those around her to be excited about life and to stand up for themselves- to advocate for what they deserve in life. She would rather spend hours talking about you than herself. She is the first to compliment your new hair cut and make you feel special, even if you think there is nothing new or special to note. She is truly the most selfless person I know and has actually given people the clothes off of her back. (True story)
Our friendship has helped me through challenging times. It has inspired me to become more giving with my time and my love. And it has led me on some of my greatest adventures to date. She has become my family- even my family considers her one of us. And I know I am still not just speaking for myself here.
Now for all of you out there who have been impacted by this bright, beautiful, shining star - it is our turn to do something incredible for Gillian. She needs our help.
Gillian has some scary and stressful times ahead of her- physically and emotionally draining burdens that no one should have to bear. Without divulging all of the details, we are furiously glaring down the "C-Word".
She is looking at a pretty serious surgery and definitely recovery time. This is going to require time off from work and add up to some hefty hospital bills. It's no secret that our heathcare system is a joke. This is going to add an extra financial burden onto an already difficult situation.
That is why I ask you all to come together. To help bear this part of the burden that no one person should have to hold. To give back to the person who is relentless with her time and her energy. To be the cheerleader for your biggest cheerleader. To help advocate and spread the word. Maybe together we can come close to making an impact on this wonderful soul who has changed so many of us.
