Our Beloved Janice Eisenberg

As most of you already know, we lost our beloved wife, mother, daughter and friend, Janice Eisenberg on September 20, 2018 at 1:26 PM. This was a sudden and tragic loss for the whole family and we are left here trying to piece together the puzzle. On September 15th, I received a text from my father saying my mom was not feeling well and we will have to cancel our plans for the day. Little did I know, this would turn out to be a massive heart attack and the worst week of our lives. I received another text from dad saying “911 Northridge” and when I called my father to find out what he meant, he was sobbing uncontrollably saying she was rushed to the hospital due to a heart attack. Shortly after they arrived, they had to put two stents in her for her left artery and her right artery. Her left one was 99% blocked and her right was slightly blocked. Just when we thought she was good, we were notified that with the release in blockage, she became sepsis, kidneys were failing, her liver was starting to fail, blood pressure was extremely low, and her heart had a hole in it. Shortly after, the doctors had to place a balloon pump in her main artery to avoid blood flowing in the opposite direction, which it already started doing. Because the hole in her heart was in between the two chambers, this required a difficult surgery to repair it and only a few hospitals had the capacity to complete the surgery. Our time started to become very difficult as we were rejected by two major hospitals because they did not feel that she could survive the transport. Long story short, USC was able to accept her, and she was on her way. When we arrived at USC, they placed her on 24-hour dialysis to help her with her kidney function but then her liver levels started to increase. The Cardiologist instructed us that we needed emergency surgery because the hole was getting bigger. The surgery was from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM and the Dr. thought she would make it. It consisted of them taking her heart out, stopping it, placing her on the heart and lung machine, patching the hole then putting her heart back in. We had the updates that everything was going great, however, when he placed the heart back in her to be finished, the beating of the heart was making her tear right through the stitches. Her muscle was too damaged from the heart attack. He tried three times to stitch her back up, but it failed every time. I cannot begin to tell you the fear and sadness that I saw on the Doctors face when he came to us in the waiting room. Our hearts are forever broken because our Janice was taken from us so soon. It is uncertain what our future holds, and we are left with an extreme hardship with costs. Whatever you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
