Otis & Victoria Parris Support Fund
Early in the morning of May 9th, 2017, my husband Otis Parris, experienced a catastrophic car accident on his way to work. He suffered major brain trauma and multiple fractures throughout his face. As a result of fracturing his spine, his movement and mobility is minimal. He can communicate Yes, No and OK by blinking his eyes. Over the past 5 1⁄2 months Otis has been in and out of Grant Medical Trauma Center Hospital and Springfield Regional Medical Center due to serious complications.
This is and has been an extremely heart wrenching time for the Parris family, his mom, Juanita and our four daughters, Va’Laurie (age 10), Vanessa (age 7) Vivienne (age 5) and Va’Lynzia (age 2). Otis was the sole provider as I’ve been a stay at home mom for 10 years. Adjusting to the new normal has its numerous obstacles but God has definitely provided strength and grace! I am still working hard to provide stability for my daughters, to meet the dynamic and changing needs of my husband.
A coworker at my sister's job had established a GoFundMe account after the accident to help cover Otis’ medical expenses. However, Otis qualified for Medicaid and thankfully it has covered his medical bills and nursing home care. The money initially raised has been used as judiciously as possible by
paying bills, buying gas, meals on the go, toiletries, etc. In addition to the GoFundMe donations, over the last 6 months I have been blessed by many people who have helped us by paying specific bills, putting money in my hand, sponsoring dinners, supplying the girls with clothing, school supplies and soo much more. I appreciate the outpouring of love and care shown to us by family and friends, our Grand Avenue Church of God family and the Ridgewood School community! Your generosity with prayer and financial support has been awesome and sustaining!!
