Open Orphan Books, a mobile bookstore in LA

Hi everyone! I’m working to open a mobile bookstore in Los Angeles. I’m a longtime bookseller and writer about Los Angeles literature, and I want to bring a bookstore to the many neighborhoods without one in Los Angeles. My passions include getting young readers to fall in love with books and helping folks to better understand people with apparent differences by reading widely across race & ethnicity, geography, sexuality, and the gender spectrum. What will you be helping me to fund by supporting this fundraiser? • The purchase of a truck kitted out with shelving for browsing, a window for pandemic-safe book handling, and resources for outdoor story times. • Inventory! • Books at cost or for free for readers who cannot afford to purchase books at cover price. Once open, there will be additional ways to donate directly to this effort.
