Orphanage for disabled in Sri Lanka

Donation protected
The Meth Sewa Foundation is an orphanage and home for physically and mentally disabled children and adults, located in the small and poor village Handapanagala in the Moneragala district in Sri Lanka. Around 90 children and adults at the age of 1 - 40 live together in a small house and are looked after by only 5 care workers. Most of them are children and adolescents. Some of these children were found on roads, near landfills or were handed off by the court of the district -  left alone by their parents, who are mostly too poor to take care of them.

The founder of this place, was a three wheel driver himself, who decided to start this foundation 5 years ago, after a  very poor couple left their disabled baby in his car and fled. Good nature and helpfulness made him, together with his family, built up this amazing place on their own. However,  due to lack of monetary means, running this home turns out to be a challenging task. There are clearly not enough care workers for this number of children and adults, as well as lack of facilities and medication. Beds are shared by two or three children, wheelchairs and other urgent facilities are only present in extremely small quantities.

Me and my sister are living in Germany and visit our family who originate from Sri Lanka, annually. Together with some local acquaintances and relatives we supported this foundation through donations and medical care. However, these people are still in urgent need for help. Please let us together try to help these  people in need! Every cent can help to save a life!
