We're raising money to organise fundraising events and a main event for Birmingham's Youth Homelessness Charity, St. Basils.
Mrs. Worldwide is made up of six women from different parts of the world, we are students on the same course, Fashion Business and Promotion and are all living in Birmingham, so diversity was one of our main themes.
We researched what culture and diversity means to Birmingham and found that according to the (BBC,2014) Birmingham is the most culturally mixed city in the UK, a fact which is reflected in many of the region's strengths.
The people of the West Midlands take pride in their cultural heritage, the continual fusion of cultures in the region has created a unique community.
St Basils works with young people to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and prevent homelessness.
" We have Six Strategic Priorities:
Provision of good quality accommodation which meets the needs and raises the aspirations of young people.
Provision and development of prevention and support services which meet the diverse needs of young people.
Young people fully involved in setting standards, identifying priorities and monitoring services.
St. Basils – a good place to work.
Challenging discrimination and promoting diversity and cohesion through employment, service delivery and community engagement.
Optimising resources to achieve our strategic objectives. "
